DLA is not an income based benefit. Not sure of Housing/Council benefits but DLA is not counted when making a Tax Credit Claim.0

got this from riverside housing
Will I have to pay more rent? Non-dependant deductions
If you have a grown up son or daughter living with you (or someone else who shares your house with you but is not dependent upon you for support), then the amount of rent you have to pay might go up from April 2011.
This is because the government is increasing the amount taken off your Housing Benefit entitlement because these ‘non-dependants’ are expected to help you with your rent. Please contact us for the new rates, and note:
No deduction should be taken if:- You or your partner are getting the care component of Disability Living Allowance or Attendance Allowance / or are registered blind, or
- The non-dependant is on Pension Credit (which can be claimed by many people aged 60 or over), or
- The non-dependant is only staying with you on a temporary basis (in other words your home is not their normal home), or
- The non-dependant is under 18 or a full time student, or
- The non-dependant is under 25 and getting: Income Based Jobseekers Allowance; Income Support; Income Related Employment & Support Allowance and is in the ‘assessment phase’ ie a new claim.

No there won't be any charge at all for him working as your on dla(c)0

thanks for that we read on their news letter that if u have a son or daughter whose working while you are on benefit expect to pay £50 per week toward the rent of property0
-
Yeah that's the new nondependant charges that are coming in from April. They havent been increased since 2003 so the increase will be a big shock to people and mean a lot of people will no longer be entitled to benefit
But in your case you won't have any charge cause of the dla care you get

that seems a bit nasty dont it what would they like us to do kick them out on the streets and we have more homeless people???????????0
-
Exactly and the lha rates are changing so there will only be 3 out of 10 properties affordable now for benefit claimants. It's going to get very hard for people. Not sure if it was the governments aim to get more homeless people but it certaintly looks that way.
Anyway better not start a discussion or your thread will be moved
If you do need any help with your council tax/ housing benefit claim feel free to ask, I am a benefit assessor so happy to help

Could you clarify whether it's your son who gets DLA or one of the parents?0 -
The parents are on dlac. There is no charge for the son living there0
