Insurance companies who accept no claim discounts when policy is not in their name?.

Hi All

I'm after a bit of help. I have been driving since the age of 18 (now 32) and i have always been named on my mam's policy as a named driver as the car has been in my mam's name. Last year i took over the ownership of the car and set up my own policy is my own name with Direct Line but they said that even though i had been named as a named driver on another policy with them, they could not accept my years as being a named driver with no no claims to use on my own policy. This is now up for renewal and i was wondering if there are any other insurance companies that accept people who have been named as a named driver on another policy and have no no claims and would be able to put them x amount of years of no claims together with the one year that i already have built up with Direct Line (apologies if this is a confusing question?!).

I just think that as i have been driving all these years without any claims that i think there should be someone out there who will accept this and let me add them to my own policy?. Any responses or information would be welcomed.

Thanks in Advance.

  • Virgin done this a few years ago with my son, but he had to have confirmation from my insurers (AA) that he had indeed been a named driver with NCD.
The AA sorted this out, and he got insured no problem with virgin!
