    Of those I have/had ....

1 Santander (just closed)...opened for the 1 year 6% interest and the cashback
2 Nationwide...for using when we travel abroad
4 Halifax/BOS.....for the fivers (one is our main account)

I also have 5 other current accounts. ( 2 of which I really should close as they have now outlived their purpose.)........

3 Lloyds Vantages for the 4% interest
1 Ulsterbank as a short term home for £10k
1 Intelligent Finance.....a throwback to when their savings accounts offered very good rates.

There isnt any limit to the amount of bank accounts you can have, although some banks which offer accounts with special features impose a limit on those, for example, the Halifax Reward account, you can only have one sole and one joint account.
There was a poster on here, who had 15 current accounts! I have 2, my main account with Natwest, where my salary etc gets paid into, and I have a Halifax Reward account for the free fivers, which I also use as a spends account. I also used to have a Lloyds TSB basic account, but have now closed that
Debt free and staying that way!

There isn't really any limit to how many current accounts you can have. You will start being refused for new accounts if you do not fit the required criteria.

    I have
    5 x Halifax
    3 x Lloyds
    2 x Nationwide
    1 x FD

Why have you got so many?

    Just wondering,

what do use each one for?
  • There is no limit

    I have

    2x Lloyds
    2x Halifax
    2x Coop
    Nationwide
    Santander
    Smile

Lloyds is my main bank the rest i use for budgeting
  • No limit as such but what are you wanting the current accounts for? Each time you apply, your credit file will record a search-too many searches in a short period of time will go against you. The rule of thumg is no more than 3 searches in 6 months.

5 x Halifax 3 Reward accounts for the "free" fivers. 1 Current account with an overdraft facility large enough to fund the Reward accounts so I don't have to use my own money to do so. 1 easycash account for those places that charge for using a debit card but not an Electron.
    3 x Lloyds 3 Classic with Vantage paying 4% on £7000 each.
2 x Nationwide 1 is my main account the other is a "spare" to be used if their are any switching incentives available.
1 x FD Offset mortgage account.
  • I have

    3 x Lloyds Vantage

    3 x Halifax Rewards

    1 x Nat West

    1 x HSBC

    1 x First Direct

    2 x Nationwide

I think that holding 10 current accounts is completely unnecessary.

Haven't people got better things to do in their lives than open numerous accounts?

The cost of providing multiple accounts (circa £85 per anum each) is ultimately passed on to those with just one.

    Well I have 5 account

3 Halifax, 2 Rewards and an Easycash. My Easycash was my first ever bank account it use to be the teenage account. Then got convinced to open a current account by Halifax staff! Then opened a High Interest Account for the shared house account, then upgraded both to Reward for the fivers.

Then got my old student HSBC account, now just a current account, and now I've just opened a Natwest account with overdraft, so if I need it I don't have to use Halifax's £1 a day one!
