USA Experts - check my holiday plan is ok :)

The biggest tip I could offer about your plans is that you should knock the New York aspect of your trip off and head out to California. You'll mess up your body clock more doing east and west coast in one trip and probably end up doing justice to neither.
IMO, you're better off doing the West coast part as a separate trip giving you ample time to road trip around and see the scenery. San Diego to Seattle is possible in two weeks and you'll see some magical stuff. ;-)0 -
I was originally going to say the same but didn't want to be the bad guy when the OP seemed to have already decided on where they wanted to visit
To me it does make more sense to do either the East or the West coast if you're only doing a 2 week trip, but each to his own I guess.

As others have suggested, I'd be tempted to skip NY and head straight to California.
Where are you flying from ? I'm sure I've read that there are direct flights starting again from Heathrow to San Diego - I'll go and have a look now .....
EDIT: Found it, looks like they are starting in June, which is too late unfortunately

Ah thanks - slightly late now as have just booked flights then came back to thread! Don't worry about being the bad guy though - we might just have to live and learn if our body clocks end up even more messed up than just doing west! It's taken us months and months of deliberation trying to decide where to go (this is a pre-baby holiday so trying to max out the 'adultness') and I'm so relived that we've now got a solution we're both excited about!!!!
I'll report back on the jet lag!
Thanks everyoneI love MSE - must start posting more again!
Everything will be ok in the end, if everything's not ok then it's not the end0 -

Don't worry, you'll have a fantastic time. NYC is a great place to visit. I never seem to have a problem with jetlag when travelling West - coming back home, that's a different story though !0
