Natwest closed my account

Hi guys,
Recently been having problems with Natwest.
At the beginning of Feburary they closed my account which was my primary account I use to take my salary and pay my mortgage etc.
Now, they done this without giving me any notice and as much as I try they're unable to give me any information as to why?
When they closed the account it had a positive balance and they're not allowing me access to it or telling me what's going to happen to it!
The one other product I have with them is a secured loan against my house which I've been paying off every month without any late payments for around two years! In fact there've been no missed payments / defaults etc for about four years.
I'm wondering if anybody has ever been in this situation and advise me on what I should do? I've tried calling the bank and they refuse to answer my questions, I sent a letter last Monday and they've still not made contact.
This has really interfered with my life as not only have they left me without my money for a month (meaning I have to borrow from elsewhere to get by) I've also had to spend time and taken the trouble opening more accounts with different banks!
Help!

Sounds like suspected fraud to me. When did you last check your credit files?Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Hi izools, thank you for the quick reply.
I checked them around a year ago however if it was fraud wouldn't Natwest tell me this was the case? Also, I've opened accounts since with HSBC and Santander, neither of which seemed concerned to open me another account. I have my mortgage with Santander and neither of them gave me any problems whatsoever, HSBC didn't even ask for ID0 -
Sorry - I should have been clearer - it sounds like they suspect 1st party fraud - i.e they suspect you of fraud. In this instance they wouldn't tell you.
How long had you held the account? All banks have a slightly different approach to anti-money laundering regs etc so if something cropped up on your credit file it mightn't affect all of your accounts - either that or it was activity on the account itself.
This is pure speculation of course but you should check your credit file now to be sure and write to Natwest asking for a copy of all your data under Section 7 of the DPA and a full, detailed explanation of the decision making process they used and cause for closing your account.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48
