Doesn't work on Windows 7 Home Premium. Might do on better versions of 7, but not this one.0

Run them in XP compatibility mode?markinyorkshire wrote: »Doesn't work on Windows 7 Home Premium. Might do on better versions of 7, but not this one.
I am perhaps being previous on this but Macman meant right click on the software and select properties / compatabilty rather than running it within XP Mode (which only works on Pro upwards)

Yes, I tried that. Just got the programme window up for a nanosecond before it blew itself away. Tried it in compatibility mode as well. No luck. Strange, but there it is. Just not working on this 64-bit OS.0

Try this and see if you like it:
http://portableapps.com/apps/office/money_manager_ex_portable
This is also the portable version that does not need any installation.Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0 -
Aiadi,
Just as a note
I just ran that one windows 7 Pro.
While its "portable" is does need installing (well extracting to be truthful)
I ran it and installed (extracted) it to a folder on my desktop, and it seam to run fine.. (well it started up without error)
so it should workPress any other key to continue.0 -
Yes it is not installed and you can put that folder you extracted on your USB drive (remember to encrypt your accounts in case you lose it) and just run the program from any PC you use directly from your portable drive.Aiadi,

You could try 'You Need A Budget', just google YNAB.
Or, 'MiPennies' if you want a MS Money clone (they guy who coded MiPennies did-so because he used MS Money, but when MS ditched the UK version, he set about writing his own.) It is currently at version 3, and the programmer is adding new bits every little while.Never Knowingly Understood.

When you run them you get a window open for a fraction of a second and then vanish. Compatibility modes make no difference. I'm on the 64-bit version of Windows 7, which I suppose might make a difference. Any more suggestions welcome!

I'm still using 2004 MMoney without any problems whatsoever, it still does all UK banks / UK cheque numbers / auto downloads info from my banks. It's faultless. The only thing it doesn't do [ without a lot of manipulating ] is shares etc.
Runs fine on Win7, both x86 & x64, and ran ok on both the the Vista's back in the day !Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I tried the Money Manager Programmer recommended by Aiadi and it is excellent! A bit fiddly to get started but once you are up and running it does everything I need. I'm sticking with this. Thanks!!0

You have two choices, you can buy Moneydance or install GnuCash (which is free and works under Win 7 64bit)My Mind wanders, if found please return.0
