Santander Standing Order issues

I know the general consensus on here regarding Santander but this is just a bit of a heads up for anyone who banks with them.

I had a standing order due out yesterday to go from my Santander current account to my Santander regular saver. Obviously it wouldn't be taken on a Sunday but when I checked this afternoon, it still hadn't been taken.

Luckily, we have a Santander on-site where I work so I went to talk to the chappy at the counter. He smiled and said that he too was due to see standing orders leave his account yesterday but they too had missed. He said the next payment date on his had rolled round to March and when he checked my account, it was saying the same.

Usefully though, he'd already phoned head office and was told there wasn't a problem... so it looks like staff get the same treatment we do! He said that they were currently updating systems so things might have gone squiffy over the weekend but without Head Office acknowledging the problem, he couldn't put a time frame on it.

It's now a case of transferring the money manually for me to meet my Regular Saver conditions.

If anyone banks with Santander and has standing orders and direct debits, it might be worth logging into your internet banking to make sure everything over the last few days has worked properly.

i had the same probems, spoke to head office, they said there was a problem but now resolved and all 3 standing orders that i have set up left my account today, they did say if not by close of business today, then will go tommrow morning.

I noticed a different issue on my old A & L account now Santander. I have a monthly standing order to my savings account which was set up for 15th month and has been taken on the 15th for about the past 10 years. Since it was converted to Santander they now take the money from my current account on 14th. Last week I noticed the money was taken out but took 4 days to become available in my savings account even though it was showing as going into the savings account on the 15th.
