Problem With Virus?

hi folks,

my nephew has a problem with his laptop, his mum clicked on a antivirus alert pop up which was fake and has now dowloded some type of software that means he cant surf the internet using windows explorer or google or mozilla, also the compuer restats at random times.
he is using vista

i told hime too try http://www.superantispyware.com/

to try and remove the virus but half way through the scan it stopped and resarted the laptop. now it is back too the begining with the same problem.

any help or ideas would be much appreciative or any other sotware.

thanks alot , i am doing this by phone as i dont have the laptop at hand, my sister thins it was microsoft internet securityscan but shes not sure.

would try system restore tends to fix most issues to before virus was downloaded,

you can get some antivirus to run before windows starts that is another good option
