Hi.
Have a credit check(moving property) and to my surprise have a CCJ on my name at a previous address.
After investigation found out that it was a outstanding rent of some FRIEND I become guarantor(about 8 years ago).
Do I have any option now (apart from paying)?

As far as I'm aware, if you're a guarantor for credit then you are liable for the debt if they don't pay - that's the idea of a guarantor. I'm sure someone qualified will come along soon though and let you know for definate!
The CCJ will stay on your credit report for 6 years from the date of default, and become stature barred after 6 years of no contact.DFD = [STRIKE]May 2028[/STRIKE] February 2016Nov 2010 = £49128.50

Hi
if you did not get notice of the court case, you MAY be able to get the CCJ overturned - see the NDL web-site for details of how to do this.
Do please go over to the housing and renting forum because there has been recent advice about guarantors, which suggests that what matters is the type of document that you signed with the LL or LA. Unless it was a deed, you may well be able to defend any case they take once the CCJ is reversed. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

National debtline website http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/
Highly unlikely you'll be able to do much about this. You could get a copy of the judgement from the court that issued it to check the amounts claimed etc.
Did you live at the same address you gave on the guarantor form on the date the CCJ was granted? If you did then you should have received court papers, did you and did you complete them?
If you didn't live at the same address then unfortunately as you didn't keep them informed of your current address they are allowed to issue court papers to your last known address.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

I have moved to different address when CCJ was issued.

Did I understood it wrong?
Even if you pay full amount, you still can't clear your name from CCJ???0 -
If you pay off the CCJ then you no longer owe the money - you can get the entry on your credit file marked as a satisfied CCJ - but it stays on your credit file for 6years from the date of the CCJ.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
