Perhaps you can discuss the product with your GP and ask how it works and if they think it would be beneficial?
Unless people have taken blood samples etc. it is hard to tell how the supplement worked, and everyone has different diets, so it may be better to get individual advice.

You can probably find a folic acid supplement (and a multi vitamin/mineral supplement if you need it) a lot cheaper than this...

These NHS links may give some useful background info:

it's expensive but it makes your hair lovely! the other thing is all the pregnacare pills do gve you constipation - just a warning!
  • i took them with both of my pregnancies just so i knew "i was doing everything i could to support a healthy pregnancy" and bought them from boots on 3 for 2. i diddn't suffer constipation from them. my hubbie was also on wellman whilst ttc, but looking back he probably didn't need it as no.2 happened unexpectedly!

i also agree that a good multi vit and folic acid is probably cheaper, but i know how desperate i was to conceive, that i wanted to do it all "right".

    good luck btw.
  • I took them for the first conception and pregnancy and got pregnant on the second month. My husband had also done the atkins diet for a couple of months before that, so not sure if either had a benefit.

Took them for conception of second child, but didn't get anywhere. When we did get pregnant 8 months down the line, I tried taking them then, and they were so large and I struggled to keep them down, I felt sick all day long, had morning sickness through to 29 weeks!

So I would say try anything and see how it goes.

I took Pregnacare Conception whilst TTC and currently take the usual Pregnacare as I am pregnant. I haven't found any bad side effects - certainly not constipation! If you don't think your diet is giving you the full nutrients you need, then this is good reassurance that you're getting the vits. That's my experience anyway!

    Good luck with TTC :)
