Me & girlfriend are thinking of moving into together but the problem is that she is currently on income support for being a one parent family, and gets housing benefit, council tax benfit.
i work, but there is no way my imcome £15500 pa can cover both of us and her two girls to live, what if any benefits would she be entitled too? she is looking for work, just trying to find something that she can work while the kids are at school.
any advice would be appricated, yes she wants a job, hates being at home not working, but she is a trained immagration officer, and there is nothing around for her skill bar security work at the local airport which will be 12 hour night shifts and she dosent drive she is quite willing to take anything that comes along but at the moment she need something that will cover her rent & bills min
so please no comments about get a job, stop being a scrounger, we could just do what thousand of others do , move in together and not declare it, and swindle the goverment blind. but we are both honset people trying to have a life together

you need to get your heads together and go through www.turn2us.co.uk to work out yopur entitlements. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

On your income, you should be entitled to child tax credits at least, but they may be lower than she's currently getting - as stated above, try the calculator to see what you'd be entitled to as a couple (don't put in that she gets income support as she no longer will with you in the household.)
Also, maybe with you there she could do the security work at night, since you'd be around to provide childcare? This would only work if you could drive her, I guess.0 -
She will lose her entitlement to income support as she is no longer a lone parent.
She will also have to cancel her claim for tax credits and make a new claim as a couple. Where on your wage you will be entitled to working tax credits. But once she gets a job it will take you over that limit and no longer be entitled.
Also have to update housing benefit and on your wages you will only recieve a small amount
You may think that all sounds bad but now you will only be paying one lot of bills instead of 2 so not all bad0 -
She will still be eligible for child maintenance from the children's father.0

As she is on benefits she is by law required to inform CSA0
