I know this is long winded but I will write out the letter as sent to me, it is pretty bog standard stuff
"
Dear XXXXXXX
I refer to our staff meeting on 14/02/11
As I informed both you and XXXXXX at the meeting, the company is in the regrettable position of having to consider implementing a redundancy programme as a result of restructuring the business. At this stage we have not formulated precise proposals, but we anticipate it may well be necessary to make both of you redundant.
As a first step the company wishes to invite employees to consider whether they would like to apply for voluntary redundancy. The terms available for those who apply and are accepted for voluntary redundancy can be obtained from XYZ.
If you do wish to be considered for voluntary redundancy please contact ABC by no later than 23 February 2011. If we do not hear from you by this date we will conclude that you do not wish to volunteer for redundancy. "
There is more to this letter but I have cut it off at the bit where I believe it is relevant.
The issue is that XYZ has been on holiday from the moment we received these notices and will be back after the 23 February therefore not giving us the opportunity to obtain these details from him
Surely they have shot themselves in the foot with that one ?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Contact whoever issued the letter and point out that XYZ is on holiday and you can't make in informed decision until they get back and you've had a look at the terms of VR.
Might just be an oversight. Hopefully they'll push the date out by a week or so.0 -
Thanks for your reply Gordon Hose, I was hoping for something like : " Take them to Industrial tribunal for not following the proper procedures " Ie take them to the cleaners :rotfl:0
