Car insurance and moving address

i am insured with budget insurance, whicxh i purchased through comparethemarket.com.

i recently phoned them to tell them i will be moving and they said ther would have to charge me nearly double the monthly payment.

a few points:

1. i'm moving to a house in the same close that i live in now, although it is a different postcode.

2. when i try a quote throught both the budget website and comparethemarket.com, the price stays the same for both addresses, for budget insurance.

how can the person in the call centre say one thing and the website suggest another?

i think i'm gonna have to phone and give them what for!!

Budget are a broker not an insurer. There will be charges for the amendment which will add to the cost for a start that are not included in a new policy. Also, the insurer may levy a charge too. The price may also be increased as Budget may have put though NB discounting to win the business up front (not unlikley give that Comparethemarket is part of the same BGL group of companies).

Your problem is you went for a bucket shop broker who make charges for amendments. They will also be charging you a fair amount for paying in installments rather than in full up-front - might have something to do with it.
