amex platinum - cashback/rewards

I've been looking at the amex platinum and the 3% intorductory cashback is appealing.
Does anybody know if you can use this card to get cashback with and _also_ use it to accrue "membership rewards" like this http://www10.americanexpress.com/sif/cda/page/0,1641,12026,00.asp
Seems unlikely, but I can't see any comment on the amex site.
I wouldn't want to apply for reward points or whatever they call them, and find it's removed the cashback option.

No - you can't. Just cashback.
But - be aware - once that 3% is over - it's a very average cashback card unless you are a heavy CC user.0 -
Is this something you've tried, or did you find info on their site, I'm tempted to give it a whirl and see what happens, but don't want to compromise my cashback0

It does appear that you would be eligible per t&c's
"The Membership Rewards Programme ("The Programme") is available to Basic Personal Card, Gold Card, Platinum Cardmembers"

That is referring to their charge cards not their credit cards.Dazza.mk wrote:It does appear that you would be eligible per t&c's

Sorry - missed the response. I haven't tried to sign up for the membership rewards programme - but it is, as King Of Fools indicated, for charge card holders only.
