Norwich Union Appliance cover what a rip off

I have used this for 18 plus years, now they have cancelled it as in that time I have had 6 claims. They were happy to increase the annual sum last year and take the years worth but inspite of having no claims in 18 months they have now cancelled it. Seems that if your appliance breaks down more than once they kill the policy even when they supplied the replacement appliance in the first case.
Do not consider using them. as it is even worse than that offered by the store when you take out the policy. I have now cancelled my life car and house insurance and would never consider using them again.

6 claims in 18 years is quite excessive and you cant blame them for cancelling it.
It is with some irony that they probably cancelled because they thought you were ripping them off, not the other way round. You have done very well out of this policy. So, how can you call it a rip off?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. I've claimed 4 times in 6 years and my policy is still current with them (but it's on my list of 'things to do' to cancel it asap, as most of our appliances are now over the 5 year limit where they will replace them)Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

I have insured my home with Barclays, and for the first time took up their emergency cover and have found out it's through Norwich union. I have taken it primarily as it includes Gas boiler breakdown, most other things I can do myself. The price for this cover is £71 per year.
Anyone tried claiming on this policy?0 -
In my 18 years the total cost of repairs has been well under £700 but the cost has been £2700. As this is designed to give full cover all non movable electrical appliances in the house and is advertised and sold as such. I would disagree with Raksha in the post saying that this is excessive.
However I've just got my own back as I am responsible for my works insurance policies and guess what they Were!!! with Norwich Union and as they covered 350+ buildings with premiums in excess of £300,000 per year they have lost all that business too.0
