You will be eligible for tax credits. On that income you will not get help with rent etc.

Assuming none of your children are disabled...

    Until April '11

    Eligible elements: 1920 + 1890 + 790 + 545 + (2300 x 4) = 14345

    Subtraction due to income: (21200 - 6420) x 0.39 = 5764.20

Making yearly amount to be 8580.80, so £165.02 pw

    April '11 - April '12 ... Assuming 21200pa income

    Eligible elements: 1920 + 1950 + 790 + 545 + (2555 x 4) = 15425

    Subtraction due to income: (21200 - 6420) x 0.41 = 6059.80

Making yearly amount to be 9365.20, so £180.10 pw

ETA - amounts may be £10-£15 less depending on what income from income support you have received over the year.

  • thanks for your help, so its not worth putting in a rent and council tax rebate form?
  • You could try but i doubt very much you'd get anything. When I went from income support to earning 21.5K a few yrs ago I lost ctb/hb and in my opinion rightly so.

On an income of £1360 pcm plus nearly £700 pcm from tax credits you should be in a decent position - £475pcm rent isn't bad at all on that income. If you think you may struggle i suggest you do a SOA (statement of affairs) http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html and post it on the debt free wannabe board for help with reducing costs.
