Good parachute account?

I realise there is a risk of having my Halifax account closed down after I've claimed, but as my claim concerns a housekeeping account (with lots of DD, standing orders etc), I really don't want to move it unless I absolutely have to. However looking for a decent parachute account is proving quite difficult, as I don't want to have to deposit any money in it, just have it there as a back up just in case it does get to that stage where I need it as back up.

Does anyone know of a basic account that will suffice as a parachute account?

Thanks

  • I'll shift your thread across to the Budgeting and Current Account Board shortly as there are threads on there about basic accounts once I search them out I'll add your post to them :)

I've just applied for the basic current account from A&L jsut in case Halifax want to close my account.
There's not much info on the basic account on the A&L website let you know when the form comes through, should be tomorrow, then we attack!

  • Its because the site is running slow with all the traffic, I'll fix them before I shift the thread :)
  • Hi - I just opened a basic bank account with A & L and its great, but if you have a bad credit history like me, they will only offer a visa electron card and no cheque guarentee. just thought you might like to know. Have found this a bit of a pain.

Thanks MOM, i've applied for the Basic Current Account, not sure if that's the same. I'm still waiting for the app form to arrive.
