Plumbing: Name of a male female coupling

Can anyone help me?

I want a 32mm male - female coupling

However, I seem to have no bother finding a male - male http://www.screwfix.com/prods/16247/Plumbing/Overflow-Waste-System/Straight-Coupling-21-5mm-Pack-of-5

Or female - female

But I can't find a male to female. The problem is using a both is far too long for my needs.

Do they have a special name which I could search for?

Without knowing what you are doing it had to find a solution.

    But try searching "reducer"

Inserts on waste pipes would cause a build up of fat & soap etc & would eventually block. That is why they are not standard.

  • Look at solvent weld to push fit/compression adapter.

I'm just trying to replace an s-bend, but the new bend is slightly shorter than the old s-bend. So I need an extension, but a total length extension of about 4cm. I can't fit an female to female in the gap - and certainly couldn't add the necessary pipe afterwards.

The photo may help to explain the problem. Sadly I can't do anything about the original pipe length (possibly remove about 1cm max - as it is cemented through a wall. I just want a short length piece which fits into the female of the bend, but has a female into which I can insert the male pipe.

  • Cut the pipe & add a new piece of pipe & a coupling.

    Or buy a new trap.

As I said, I can't cut the pipe by more than 1cm, and I've tried buying other traps - but it seems they all have the same issue.

Cant you just refurb what you have already got with the seals from the new trap you bought?

I suppose I could give that another go, but not really ideal. I suppose that means there is no proper way to do what I want. Thanks for the help by the way.
