must have written meter reading down wrong (prepayment)
So we moved in on 8th Feb 2011 and we are on prepayment metres
EDF for electric. I wrote the reading down on 8th as 5597 but today I read it as 7794 so I've clearly read the first one wrong then haven't I?
There was around £5 on the meter when we moved in and since then (almost two weeks) we've added £5+£10+£2.
Yesterday I left for work and the credit was something like £3.60 so my partner put £2 on, I expected it to be £5+ when I got home. It was £4.40 and today it is £3.39. Is that normal?
200 units would be about right I think around £24.
When we are in we have a router, pc, tv on +fridge freezer. We are now turning the cooker off and unplugging everything we can.
We live in a small 1 bed flat above shops.

There are standing charges (either as a daily standing charge or as two or three higher priced tier 1 units) that can be anything from 3p to 30p and more per day. It is difficult and fiddly to monitor the charges on a prepayment meter on a day-to-day basis. You should just use the meter reading of units/kWh for daily monitoring of consumption if wanted and compare this with the actual two or four weekly top-ups rather than reading the money balance all the time.
Here are a list of codes that may (or may not) help you - it'll depend on your meter (sorry OP of list, didn't keep a copy of who posted it)
A - how much credit is availible
B - only shows if emc has been used and meter is owed money. tells how much need to top up to nearest £1 to get back into normal credit.
E - how much credit the meter has had put on it
F - the standing charge. which is the weekly charge for the tarriff she is on. also if paying back a debt it will also be incorporated in that screen.
G- ignore not needed
H - day units meter reading
I - day units price
J - night unit meter read - only shows if E7 meter
K - night unit price - only shows if E7 meter
put the electric key in to get the rest of the screens
R - how much the emergency credit limit is
S - balance of any debt that they are paying back through the meter
T - how much the debt is being paid back weekly at.0 -
Yes while I was out I think thinking it could be the daily charge. we plan on £40 a month on each meter to start with0
