Some do. There are certain brands that help sperm though - maybe ask on the Trying for a Baby thread for a suggestion.

Some lubrication can kill sperm yes.. but if you need to use lube invest in sperm friendly ones like pre seed boots also do one but i cant remember the name of it sorry

Or if you can stomach it then theres natural ones like egg whites x

Ordinary lube (like ky) won't kill sperm. You need a spermicidal contraceptive lube to kill them.

But using ordinary lube does slow their swimming down so that many die before they reach their target!

Pre-seed is a sperm friendly lube and some of the girls use it on the Trying to Conceive thread. You should pop over and say hello - we're very friendly!! ;)

Oooo just had a thunk, and i think the one boots does is called concieve plus.

You could also use a small amount of baby oil (not inside sorry tmi but just on entry) or even olive oil x

  • I second PRE SEED.. used it when trying with my first. It give perfect conditions for those little swimmers to climb and swim through. Most lubes do kill sperm.

  • Hi,

a lorry driver, who got about a bit, told me he once got in tow with an old doll and had to use some of the cooking oil from the chip pan, though I wouldn't
recommend that, least not until it had cooled a bit. :rotfl:

A woman of child bearing age needing lubrication could indicate the need for a check up. Natural lubrication should be sufficient before the menopause.

Sorry but that is absolute rubbish! Some people just do not produce as much natural lubricant as others for a number of reasons.

Most ordinairy lubricants will not work well in conjunctuion with sperm as they are too thick which means the sperm cannot mix to travel up the vaginal cavity to reach the egg.

When we were ttc we used http://www.conceiveplus.comit is designed to help with conception and we conceived twice with it. ou buy Conceieve Plus in Boots or online - I brought ours from Ebay in a set with some ovulation testing sticks. Pre-seed is another sperm friendly lubricant however it is not as easy to buy as I think it is American plus it can be quite difficult to use.

I would definitely recommend giving the Conceieve Plus a try if you regularly use a lubricant.
