About three years ago we changed from one gas supplier to another, during the change something happend and our gas account was closed with our supplier but not opened with the new one !!
Hence for 3 years we have not paid gas, which for a while was fun, we thought that when the meters were read we would get a bill, and sure enough they were read but nothing, they have been read a few times since and every time we say gotta get us this time and still no bills arrive only electric.
We have spoken to transco and they have told us who our supply is from and we have phoned them only to be told no sir your account has been closed !!
Can they claim the money back ????
I would like to start paying again but don't want a huge bill....wht do i do ???

I dont know where you stand, but my parents have had exactly the same thing, eventually they found that they were with Powergen. Called up and the person on the phone told them that the gas that hadnt been charged for up until that point would be left unpaid and they would send bills from that meter reading onwards.
But, a year on and quite a few phone calls they still havent had a bill at all. So I would love to know too!0 -
ours is powergen also, we informed them in writing of the situation so i think we have covered ourselves, but still no reply!!

New regulations were brought in recently which means if a power company is at fault for not billing you they can only backdate charges for two years, autumn 2007 it drops to one year. If you haven't got proof you've notofied them you're not getting bills, I'd advise them now and either get proof of posting or name and extension number of the person you spoke kept alongside a copy of your phone bill when it arrives, then relax... the longer they take to sort it out, the more free power you get, just put a bit of money aside so when a bill does come through you can afford to pay it.0
