Norton trial due to end, what security to install?

I bought a laptop for Christmas and until now have been running the Norton antivirus/internet security that came with it. The free trial is due to end in a couple of days and I'm not sure what to install to replace it.
On my PC, I am currently using Avira anti virus and process guard.
I have used Avast and AVG on the PC and ended up having to remove them due to update issues. Avira seems to be working ok on the PC.

Microsoft Security Essentials is free & easy to install and just sits there in the background not bothering you. Gets quite good reviews. I run it on XP and Win 7 machines. Nothing reported but no problems either so can't really say how effective it is.

Panda Cloud is free and very good, needs an internet connection though.
It's also worth having Malwarebytes installed as it's very good at picking up viruses.0 -
