Wow, thanks for all the answers. (I'd forgotten about this thread!)
We've just had a new Tesco opened near to my mum so I will look to see if their cashpoints dispense fivers, no-one else in South-East London seems to."I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -
Natwest and RBS ATMs now dispense £5.00 notes.
If the option is not displayed on the main screen press other and key the amount of £5.00.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
The HSBC one near me gives out fivers - I love it!0

Went to my local Tesco cash machine yesterday and drew out......a fiver!
Being able to get a fiver a time will help me a lot, what with being skint, in debt et cetera.

About 10 years ago the bank opposite Leeds Uni dispensed £5 notes, think it was Barclays IIRC?
Post Office near me in Leeds dispenses £5 notes now, newly introduced a few months ago I think.0 -

Has anyone ever got a £5 note from a cash machine in London? Can you ask for £5 or is the minimum withdrawal still £10? (It's bad enough when you can't get less than twenty quid because the machine has "run out" of tenners )
I managed to get one from a Natwest machine a few times (in London).Debt at worst: £33000 (Feb 2011). Present debt: £25610 (Apr 2012)

Loads of them in Leeds City Centre have started dispensing fivers, I remember the Barclays opposite the uni always has but there's three or four more I've seen recently.
Looking through this thread it seems to be a predominantly Yorkshire thing... coincidence!?0 -
I got £5 notes from a machine in Stevenage Old Town in the '90's- think it was Natwest (or perhaps Nationwide)- was at the bottom of the High Street, but it would not let me withdraw one at a time, only 2 at a time at the least! Was quite cool if you happened to need change for say a birthday collection (£5 was quite generous in 1996-7!)Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.
