3 Sim Card in unlocked phones

I have a 3 contract sim card and was wondering if it will work in any unlocked phones, or do they only work in 3 phones.

    As long as the phone is 3g & unlocked,it will work.It may work for a time with 2g phones but they will soon find out and bar the phone with three.
