accounts you pay for

My bf has got a privilege current account with the co-op, he pays £9.50 a month and has got a £200 overdraft that he sometimes uses, included with other benefits. I think the only ones he uses apart from the overdraft is phone insurance and travel insurance, and maybe sometimes another I'm not sure what. Anyway recently he hasn't got much money in it, so it's just them benefits he's using. I saw a piece recently in the paper which was questioning which is better to have that sort of account or to have a normal account without paying and have seperate phone insurance etc. I didn't get chance to keep the piece, and can't seem to find anything like it online. So I was wondering if anyone knew of any of had any thoughts on it. Thanks

What cover would he buy if he didn't have the account?
How much would he pay for it?
If that's less than 12 x £9.50 for a year then the packaged account is a bad idea.0 -

Their cheapest cover start from less than £2.00 a month. Mobile phones are sometimes covered on your home insurance as well.http://www.lendingstandardsboard.org.uk/docs/lendingcode.pdf

Quite, I just moved my contents insurance to Pricipality (part of Royal Sun Allicance insurance) and I get:
Accidental Damage & Breakage
£50 excess - which is similar if not better to some of the leading mobile phone insurance companies.
£2,000 personal posessions cover including laptops, mobile etc outside the home
Plus all the usual extras.
£13 / Month. And that's taking into consideration an AD claim I made just over four years ago. Pretty good IMHO considering it covers all and sundry not just m'phoneCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48
