I thought it was Bit much for new boiler too, will ask workman when we get there.
Have pm you Oliver as to where we are.
Well when I went to council to hand in our notice we where so far in credit with rent that we don't need to pay anymore, same with council tax I was paying£35 a week but was meant to stop mid jan I didn't realise this so just kept paying when talking to the woman she said we owe no more and a refund will be sent out.
We did owe an over payment of rent and c/tax benefit so will put the refund toward that and only owe them £15 that was the last of our debts too. so rang solicitor and asked if we could bring the date forward as we are good to go now just the packing.
Thank you all very much for all the advice so far.

Could be the end of next week now when we compete on house, we are thinking about getting an ex display kitchen has anyone else dealt with buying one?
    Thank you for any advice

  • I would not worry about the fuse box if it safe. When we moved into our house 11 years ago I thought ours would need changing as we had always been used to the trip switch type but I have only had to re-wire one cartridge in the 11 years once. They are perfectly safe and I have better things to spend the money on.:D

Buying an ex-display kitchen is ok if it fits or can be utilised for your kitchen space. We bought our kitchen from b&q as flat pack when they do the sales. It cost about £500 for the units and doors. We chose white gloss doors and have been able to add to it when we extended the kitchen into the extension. I love the kitchen because it is designed how we want it. The colour in my kitchen comes from painting the walls and accessories.

Don't rush out and buy the first one you see because it is a "bargain" it won't be if it is not what you really want.

Thank you woozy, been to b&q and priced a cheap one for about £1k but didn't have any sales on, the only problem I can see with the kitchen at the moment for us is my cooker won't fit in the space as they have the normal size cooker but mine is the next size up ( don't know measurements sorry).they have the washing machine next to cooker too, so wouldn't be able to take a unit out or anything (it's a wall at the other side) then it's the sink next to washing machine.
Also how much roughly is it to get a couple of plug sockets fitted as it only has 3 in there at mo, thank you

Just a thought. Have you thought of contacting your local council to see if there are any grants going. There may be money available to help towards the wiring and the beetle thing. About 6 years ago a new neighbour moved in and immediately had a new roof. When I asked them about it they said they got a grant. I called the council and we got a new roof, new dampcourse, new fascia and guttering and a contribution towards a new boiler. Only hubby was working at the time so we only paid £470.00 towards a £13,500 job. Our direct neighbour applied aswell and had a new roof too.
    Worth a try.
