Just a quickie i though people might want to be warned about
Ive noticed that my last 4 months of bills from Orange (mobile) have been about £5 more than my contract is for. I never use more than my allowance of texts or calls, so thought it strange. The only thing i do VERY occasionaly is cheat in a pub quiz by googling stuff, but this is literally a minute or 2 a month.
I decided to ring them about it, because i thought i may have been using a service through my phone unintentionally. I noticed that my first 3 bills from them only included just my contract charge and VAT, then the last 4 bills had something called "orange world access 4" (or something along those lines) in charges breakdown on the front page of my bill.
I got through to a lad at Orange and explained that i had noticed this, and asked if he could tell me what it is. He explained (very breifly) thats its some kind of internet surfing package. I told him i had NEVER signed up for this, and had expected to just pay for the odd minute here and there that i used for browsing. He then explained that i had got this "world package" free for the first 3 months of my contract, but obv it had expired and i was now paying for it. He then asked me if i wanted it to be taken off, and i said yes. I now only pay for what i use.
At no point have i EVER signed up for this, and instead they rip you off by sneakily including it free in your benefits then charging you for it thereafter (even if you dont use it!) Ive never seen anything documented that stated this would happen...so now ive had £20 taken off me for something i didnt know about.
Plus theyve also wazzed me off by not changing my name on my account to my new married name, despite numerous requests (which is happening with lots of pther suppliers i use too ggrrrrrr!)
Be warned!

I dont think they would of intentionally ripped you off. Orange are too big a company to defraud a customers out of £5. Also it could be fraud.
I think they probably told you at some point but confused you in the technical jargon. They do do that, as do most contract based companies.
However if you are adamant then you could write to the CEO of Orange and copy the letter to Watchdog and the Office of fair trading.0 -
If your planning to use web browsing with your mobile without subscribing to one of the world access packages be very carful how much you use it.
Orange have a very expensive charge for web browsing if your not on one of the world access bundles.
Find out what the charge will have been if you didn't have a bundle. You may find that you actually save money!:rolleyes:0
