Where to stay when visiting Paultons/Peppa Pig World

Options
Hi, I am looking at planning a few nights away (probably 2 maybe 3) in the May/June half term to visit the new Peppa Pig World at Paultons Park. There will be 2 adults and 3 children. Can anyone suggest any good, reasonably priced places to stay? I have no experience of the area so any advice would be brilliant.

Somewhere in the New Forest, Southampton or Winchester / Salisbury should all be within easy reach, assuming you're driving?

There's Hotels, BnB's & camp sites to choose from.

Paulton's Park aside what sort of thing would you want to do?

  • Thank you for the reply. Yes we will be driving down. I think other than visiting the park we would probably want to take the kids swimming and do a few out doors things, picnic's etc.
  • premier inn is almost next door with restaurant and another pub a stones throw away.

If you prefer self catering this looks very nice http://www.testvalleyaccommodation.co.uk/

try searching for accomodation in the surrounding villages such as wellow , cadnam, landford , lockerley , awbridge , braishfield ,farley, ampfield , hursley , as well as the obvious towns such as Romsey , Southampton, Totton , Winchester & Salisbury. There are lots of B&b 's and self catering apartments, lodges, barns and static caravans around here

There is a leisure pool in Romsey (romsey rapids) and another in southampton , i forget the name but it is in west quay road . Romsey has an Aldi , several co-ops and a Waitrose supermarket . There are lots of independant shops and restaurants , there is a nero coffee shop and a prezzo restaurant. most takeaways are also covered both here and in Totton.
Mac Donalds is out of town very near to Paultons Park.
Salisbury is nice for a look round , has a great park and ride , as does Winchester - the great hall has king arthurs round table (and its free) also winchester cathedral is worth a look . Southampton has a large shopping centre - west quay - and a large town centre.
Marwell zoo is near winchester (really good for kids of all ages) and if you are up for a longer drive Longleat safari park is one of the best days out around here . Romsey has a great park hidden away in the town with lots of ducks to feed and the usual swings etc .
Hidden gem of an icecream parlour is Carlos at wellow , it has a tea room and pets corner and the most delicious italian homemade icecream

crickey - bit of a ramble on there - hope some of it is useful :rotfl:

  • Hi PurpleGirlUk

Glad I saw this thread as I can help.

We regular take our half term breaks in the New Forest and visit Paultons Park as a family. It’s a great place and recommended.
This year we have been lucky enough to win a family ticket to Paultons and Peppa Pig World too ;) My mum won them for us (family of four) can’t quite remember how now, I think it was via a local radio show (lives in Devon) so maybe via that.

We always stay with New Forest Hotels, they have four hotels close to the Park, Forest Lodge (which is a Best Western – so links to HSBC deal - if Plus customer), Beaulieu Hotel (close to Beaulieu which is great too), Moorhill House Hotel, Bartley Lodge Hotel.

This year we have saved up our vouchers with Tescos as noted on Tesco Club card site that every £5 in Clubcard vouchers will give you £15 of clubcard reward tokens to spend at New Forest Hotels. Bargain ! We will be staying with New Forest hotels Friday night and leaving Sunday.

Google Search Tesco and New Forest Hotels and you will see the deal.

Each of the New Forest Hotels are lovely, great staff, service and all in great locations too and ideal for those visiting "Peppa Pig World" – check out the New Forest Hotels website to find our more. (It says I am a new user so can't post a link > > I must have logged in on another address.. Google New Forest Hotels and they are at the top, with a list of all the hotels I mentioned.

We are interested in the car share scheme too that New Forest Hotels offer as you then get 10% of your stay, possibly arranging that one for the Summer break where we will go to Bournemouth Beach, which is free for kids and adults (!!)

Can’t wait till Easter – as we have watched a number of Peppa Pig programmes now, feel that we are part of the family – oink, oink !!

Good luck with your accommodation search and have fun x:j
  • Hello Again

Loving the Peppa Pig World site. Thought to let you know there is a competition on the Peppa Pig World website (home page)– where you can win Breakfast with Peppa and George !

Also popping by to let you know – that I just saw offer for accommodation on Hot Deals UK site.

In time for the opening of Peppa Pig World on the 9th April.

Shorefield Holidays who have five holiday parks bordering the New Forest, have just started this promotion on all self catering holidays
“Eggcellent Easter Offers For arrivals 8-22 April 2011 inc”

20% off selected brochure price self catering holidays at Shorefield Holiday Park, Oakdene Forest Park , Forest Edge Holiday Park and bit further a field Swanage Coastal Park for short breaks or weeks. :T

Go visit their Bargains and Breaks page for details.

Also found a 50% off Bike Sales at Asda deal too - Bikes are great in the New Forest. Off to view them in store this weekend..

    Laters ;)
  • my kids are peppa pig mad, it drives us nuts sometimes (the smallest has taken to refusing to go outside unless she's in her PP wellies recently, but they're getting so tatty we're going to have to nip it in the bud or replace them soon :rotfl:).

we have booked this hotel which we've stayed in before (not with the kids though - for our anniversary :)) - they are doing a night free offer which DH managed to get (kids go free, but ours are only small so that was sort of expected), although it is still at the higher end of our budget even with that in. were' going in May for the week - but i didn't book it so i have no idea if the offer has run out, but it's worth a look if you fancy somewhere to enjoy a bit of spa pampering whilst dad takes the kids out to see peppa pig world for the afternoon! that's my plan anyway- i think it's a good one! :T

if it stretches the budget too far then i did notice on DH's shortlist there was a best western slightly closer to the actual park itself? DH circled £42 or £44 quid a night next to it when i was looking through the ideas, which sounds very reasonable (we're making this our main family holiday this year so decided to splash out) - but then i don't know if they also charge for kiddies or not - and it depends on how many are going...

  • ok i searched a bit more and I found the best western i mentioned here - it was the SOUTHAMPTON BW that had the deal i was talking about. and it's from £42 a night - called the Crown. it looks lovely but i'm not sure what their kids facilities are like, i've never stayed there, i should add.

and the 4th night free break offer we've booked ourselves is this one i think.

    hope that helps!
