Advice from all you gamers

Xbox 360 has decided to pack up. Hardware failure that Microsoft want £70 odd to fix. However, I'm thinking of maybe investing in a new machine.
I'm by no means a hardcore gamer, more a social gamer, but do play by myself at times.
Now I love the Wii because it's a laugh so am tempted by that, but not sure of it's benefits or games when playing solo. I like the usual COD, GTA, Fifa/Pro Evo.
I've always been a Xbox person as most of my friends are so have discounted the PS3 because of that.
So do I go for another Xbox and if so, do I go for the Kinnect thing? Is that socially similar to the Wii in that it's just a console you can have a good laugh with, but at the same time I can still play the games I like on my own?
Also, anyone know where to get the best deals/bundles?
Thanks very much.

That is quite a good deal.
Is that the 360 slim one? And is that the same as the Elite? I'm a bit out of touch.
And I assume my current controllers would work with that? :undecided0 -

Wicked.
What's a gigabit ethernet? :undecided
Any opinion on the Kinnect? Looks like it's a good laugh for when family/mates are round.

sadly no experience of the kinect, but a friends daughter loves it
gigabit ethernet is just faster ethernet
the PS3 has it and i expected M$ to add it but i guess wireless N is a bigger selling point for most0 -
There still aren't a lot of games for the Kinect at the moment and for what there is, there's an abundance of dance, fitness and sports games.
My son got his Kinect for Christmas, but he doesn't play on it all that much.Dave. :wave:0 -
I had an old white 360 premium sitting in the attic for a year after it packed up for the umpteenth time & was unwilling to hand any more money over to microsoft. Recentley purchased a £5 X-Clamp repair kit off ebay & got it working again. If you're comfortable taking consoles apart & putting them back together then it might be worth a try.0

If i had the chance id get the 360 with kinect but then it might just end up like the wii and not end up going on it much but id still get it as i prefer the 360 to ps3 and wii0

If you like 'traditional' games then avoid the Wii like a plague. It does have some very good one but they're few and far between. Far better off getting a 360 with Kinect if you enjoy party games but all lthe likes of CoD.0
