Strange issue with DVD playback on dual monitor

Hey everyone -

I have a laptop with a monitor attached via HDMI, and am having a strange issue when playing DVDs. If I have it set on "duplicate" the DVD plays fine, but if it's set on "extend", then the DVD only plays back on my laptop screen - if I try and drag it onto the attached monitor the DVD automatically stops.

Does anyone have any idea on how I could fix this? It's the same problem with all DVD software.

i use XBMC mainly in the same sort of set up
so when i have both monitors running
i set XBMC to play in the 2nd monitor,well 50" plasma
so now when i run XBMC,it runs automatically in the 2nd monitor if its switched on the right HDMI input
if not its on the PC 22"

edit: just tested with VLC and media player( only DVD to hand was Marley and me )


i can drag the VLC window between windows without issue
on media player there is a slight pause and then it runs
