A battle with me insurance co

I had an accident insurance and after injuring my right arm following a fall at home, I have had been taking corticosteroids injections for a whole year. However, I had a full course of treatment per year and my GP did not offer me any more injections as only two are given per year.. I was referred to a Trauma clinic where the consultant suggested having an operation on my arm and I did undergo the surgery. It has been a ten months since I had a surgery on my arm, I feel still unbearable pain and unable to do any heavy lifting. I claim on the insurance back in July last year (after the operation). The Insurance Co started the investigation and yesterday after the long wait, they have acknowledged that I did suffer due to the accident but they further said I had sustained only 10% of the permanent injury. Their offer is based on calculating only 10% of suffering! I have a severe pain doing anything at home. I have been attending physio but it did only little help. It is my right arm and everything I used to do with it. Now, I have to suffer great difficulty using it.
I am very concerned and would like some advise please.

regards

  • Have you read the policy documents and on basis they will pay out.

Not wishing to be cruel here but you still have your arm and you can use it for some tasks so why would they pay out 100% policy benefits for that.
Had it been cut off or totally paralysed - I would agree with you.

The policy wording isn’t clear cut. All it says x amount of money on a permanent disability. No mention total or a 10% disability, the claim will be paid out!
With the answer to your comments, I am not the same as I was before.
In addition to your comments The insurance companies are in it to make money; they are not bothered about me or my suffering! They are in a business to make money and the less they pay out, the more profit they make! Their offer does not reflect to the premiums I paid and to reversible damage to the arm.
  • So do you accept that 100% payout would be wrong?

To me you are claiming for something that was not covered - in effect you took out possibly a wrong policy. Did you go through a IFA or do it yourself?

Can you post on here the relevant part of the policy?
