Root vegetable mash

I usually steam and stick through the potato ricer (this is the only way I can get ds1 to eat mash for some bizarre reason). Roast veg taste great but if you mash them you get lots of tough bits that make your mash look inedible to a 13 yr old lol.MSE PARENT CLUB MEMBER.ds1 nov 1997ds2 nov 2007:jFirst DDFirst DD born in june:beer:.0

lol - well that was certainly different!
but keep on experimenting! a GOOD cook will always try out something - even if its a bit outside the box! you never know - your next experiment may knock our socks off!:)0 -
I always put in a spoon of horseradish - works for us!0

I boil, drain then mash with a bit of butter, and maybe some salt/pepper. There's a lovely recipe on I think the VegBox website for this, with grated cheese on top of the mash and sprinkled pumpkin seeds, then it goes in the oven.

Hi,
I boil mine. We tend to stick to carrot and swede, or just swede. I cut the swede into 2cm dice and the carrots about twice the size. Boil in salted water, drain and mash with butter and lots of fresh black pepper.
That said, roasted swede is a new wonderfood here
I urge you to try it if you haven't, it definately surprising!!

Well I did it boiled (swede, carrots, parsnips and sweet potato), then mashed it with milk and a bit of butter, which smelt absolutelty gorgeous when I was mashing it, so much so I may have even dribbled in the pot once or twice.

The picture doesn't do it justice to be fair. Don't know what it tastes like yet either. :rotfl:
