Implications of giving money away to family

An elderly relative wants to give away some money to family. She is below the IH threshold. She is concerned that in a few years she may need residential care and would like to know the implications of doing this regarding paying fees. How many years back of finance do they look at for instance ? Thankyou

    If you look back at other posts on this board made in the last couple of months you will find several discussing the subject at length.
