British Gas Help Needed..

Hi Everyone I Hope Somebody Could Please Advise ..... A Few Years Ago I Got In To Arrears With My Gas Account Simply Because My Bills Was Always Based On Estimated Readings, I Gave Them A Correct Reading And When The Bill Came It Turned Out That I Owed Nearly £300, At The Time I Was Only Paying £5 A Week So They Put My Weekly Payment Upto £10 To Get Rid Of This , A Year Later After This Debt Was Paid Of They Tried To Put My Payments Up To £12pw But I Stood My Ground And Said I Wouldnt Pay The Extra As My Debt Was Gone And I Was Only Paying £5 Pw Before This, They Agreed And Let Me Carry On Paying The £10pw. Anyway Ive Had A Letter This Morning Saying That I Owe The £30 What I Hadnt Payed On My Weekly Payment Scheme. So I Phoned Them And Explained I Payed Every Week With Out Fail At The P/o And Couldnt Understand Where It Had Come From, Apparently My Payments Went Up To £13 Pw A Few Months Ago. I Got Through To The Typical Snooty Phone Women Who Didnt Want To No And I Was Lying About The Fact That I Didnt No And I Had ,had A Lettter Of B.gas Telling Me About The Changes. I Was Just Lying!! She Tried To Explain That I Needed To Be In Credit This Time Of Year With My Account But I Tried To Explain All Of The Above And Get My Point Across That I Couldnt Understand Why I Yet Again Needed To Pay Extra, The Only Form Of Gas I Use Is For The Raditors And Im Pretty Dam Shore I Dont Use £13 A Week On Just Raditors. After Speaking To Her More And Demanding To Know The State Of My Account Turns Out That Im Already In £90 Credit, Even More So Why I Cant Understand Why I Need To Pay Extra. Please Help Any Advice Will Be Appreciated , Can I Claim This £90 Back??? Thanks In Advance.

Even More So Why I Cant Understand Why I Need To Pay Extra.

We have not yet got into the winter yet when you use most of your gas.
If you are paying a flat fee then you should expect to be in credit in the summer and in debit in the winter.
The whole idea of a flat payment is to help you budget so you don't get huge bilss in the winter.
At the moment as we are only at the beginning of the winter it's quite right that you would expect to be in credit.

I don't know the calculations they use but clearly BG think you aren't enough in credit for your payments to be sufficient to see out the winter.
Bear in mind that bills have risen substantially whichever company you are with.
Can I Claim This £90 Back???

Thoerectically you would but this would only put up your payments even further.
That £90 should be cushioning your bills over the winter so you don't end up too much in debt then it can be easily paid off over the summer months.

I don't think it's sensibe to take it out as you NEED to be incredit at this time of the year.
In fact BG clearly think you need to be MORE in credit than you are.
So really you need to paying extra in NOT taking it out.

    I hope that makes sense.

You can ask for the £90 back - you must provide them with a meter reading first though - but I would strongly reccomend leaving the credit until the spring. Also have bg had a meter reading in the last couple of weeks? Otherwise the gas you have used since your last bill won't yet have been debited against the £90. Call them with a reading, if you are then still £90 in credit you might consider asking the payments to be reduced back to £10, but watch your bills closely to make sure you don't end up back in debt again.

    debnlee,
Nothing to do with your query which the others have answered, but how do you manage to produce a post Where Every Word Begins With A Capital Letter?
Is it a program on your PC? I looked at your other posts and they were 'normal'.

    Just curious.
