carpet bleached by stain remover

Hey everyone, just wanted to pick your brains (apologies if this is on the wrong board).
I used a stain remover on my light coloured wool carpet (following the directions) this morning. It now has a bleached patch where I applied the stain remover. Just wondered if you thought I'd be better claiming off my household insurance (just rung to see if I'm covered, but the claims dept. is shut until Monday) or writing and complaining to the company?
What are your thoughts?

There is very little point complaining to the stain remover company - most of these products have the advice to test for colour fastness in a discreet area precisely for this reason. Its also going to be impossible to prove that it was their product that caused the bleaching as opposed to it being a reaction to whatever caused the stain - it maybe fairly likely but that's not good enough.
Regarding the insurance - that will depend on whether replacing the carpet for this blemish, is worth risking higher premiums in the future - it really depends on how big/bad the patch is and how new the carpet is. We've got all sorts of stains and marks on our carpets but we kind of take that as par for the course having young children - once they've grown up enough to stop dropping food and having accidents we'll probably replace them as part of a redecoration process. It wouldn't occur to claim for them.Adventure before Dementia!0 -
I did a test first in a small area which was fine!
I didn't eve think that it might have reacted with the stain, this could in fact be the problem (dog wee!!).
The carpet is fairly new and was quite expensive, not sure, as you said I want an increase in insurance premiums.
I'll write to the company and see what they say, although not expecting much!!0
