pringles machine franchaise advice

Hi

we both work full time but looking for an opportunity to earn a little extra income.

We have been looking at the possibility of running a small business, and in our area there are not a lot of opportunities. We fancied a small catering outlet, seaside cafe or simialr but the prices outweigh the risk.

We then looked at a mobile catering opportunity like a coffee van or a ice cream bike for fetes or carnivals but understand that this can be extremely cut throat and territorial.
Also looked at a childrens mobile ride that you take on a trailer but we do not have anywhere to store that would not eat into the profits.

Today we saw 2 adverts for pringle type franchaises where for £2k you get a number of machines sited and you get commision from the sales. I just wondered if anyone had actually made any money from this type of enterprise. Not looking at huge profits but not really want to lose anything.

Many thanks in advance

  • I know my local pub has one from a franchisee so it must be legit; whether it turns a profit is another thing.

I guess it all depends on whether you think there are the businesses around where you can get permission to put one in... we have one of those snack machine thingies with x number of different types of sweets/nuts/whatevers in for £1 for a can... It was a novelty for the first month and they did a roaring trade... since then people have realised it's cheaper to buy them from the snax wagon or whatever that comes round... you see the odd can sold but that's it. So unless you can find pubs or similar that will let you put it in I would say I think they're not as profitable as you might think...

I made enquiries about this about a year ago,and asked the Franchisee to allow me to go round with one of their agents for a day so I could ask questions and see how it works. They Thought that was out of order which put me right off following things through.I mean they want you to part with all that money ...
