V5/Logbook problem
Hi all,
To cut a long story short I rented a place for a short time while I was waiting to move into my house which needed work doing on it. I filled in the change of address part of the V5 with my rented address as I was expecting to be there for a few months. I ended up there for just a few weeks so never sent the V5 off. I obviously now need to change the address but the logbook is already filled out with an address I don't live at.
Would I get away with crossing/tippexing out the incorrect address or is this unlikely to be accepted?
Any advice would be gratefully appeciated as I'm hoping to sell the car soon so need all the paperwork in order.

Are they really ok with that?0 -
You could phone the DVLA and ask, but in my experience they give a different answer to the same question every time! I'd just put a line through the incorrect address, write the new address next to it and include a covering letter explaining what happened. You are supposed to notify them immediately about a change of address, but if you are still able to get mail through your old address, maybe that will help alleviate the issue.

Tipex is fineThis thread has me so pumped, I headbutted my dog and we both screamed.0

So you don't need to change the address, in other words the V5 is correct as it used to be because you are back at your old address. the only problem is you have filled in the change of address part. But as you don't need to change address this doesn't matter. Just score a line through it.
Should you change address in the future, tipex it and attach a covering letter.
Unless this is a new address from your old, old address, in which case do as above, now.0 -
I would say it was better just to cross it out, and write the correct information above it, and initial it, or better sign each change.
No legal document is good with tipex, it's better see both entries, and see the original changes made and authenticated.0 -
Why not just apply for a log book at the new address. Get a form from the post office.0

I could be wrong but I think it costs £25 to get a replacement logbook so I'm hoping to avoid that0 -
