Roughly how much should this bathroom job cost

hi there, i have bought a house with a downstairs bathroom and it is tiny.
so me and my girlfriend have decided to move it directly upstairs into the smallest bedroom.
the job in all basicly consists of fitting the rosalind suite from b and q.
in the bathrrom to be but with a combi shower.
the tiles are going to be simmilar colours but with a matching dark strip going from floor to ceiling, i am having this tile design the same in the downstairs toilet as i am keeping it a small washroom but i am basicly shortening the current bathroom and building a partition so like a said i am left with a small washroom downstairs and then the hallway become bigger with some were sutible to store our coats and our buggy as we have a lil nipper on the way :)
the downstairs bathroom will be:
2 meter square floor space
14 meter wall space
and the upstairs bathroom to be is:
7 meter square floor space
and 28.6 meter wall space
my initial quotes from the job lot quote companies were variied ranging from 11k to the best offer at 6.5k which consisited of knocking the original bathroom wall down building the partition wall hanging the original door fit a downstairs toilet and sink and fitting a full bathroom suite upstairs tiling both floors but only tiling half way up the wall.
this price was based on a mid range bathroom suite and tiles.
then my mates dad came round and said he will do it for 3.7 k which is fully fit both suites fully tile floors and walls replace soil stack lower ceiling for the pvc cladding basicly do the full shibang bar fitting the extractor fan and spotlights as i have another mate who is an electricion and has just re-wired my house for £350 ex materials.
but i got to thinking and thought to my self well if i pay him 3.7k the bathroom is a good 1.5k including shower and taps and the tiles are going to be but end of 1k so that pretty much takes it to nearly 6.5k.
i have no worries about him doing thre job as i know he will do a good job but just thinking is it really worth it but either way it needs done.
so what do you guys think ??

Depends where you live as to what a reasonable quote is. 6.5k sounds about right up here in the NW, but in the South I would be thinking closer to 9k. Having said that if your mates dad doesn't do it for a living, then he isn't much cheaper than the pros. Depend if you trust him.
Good luck which ever you choose and with your impending arrival.

Why dont you get a couple of quotes from companies in your area and compare them to your present quote.

Remember a proper plumber will probably do the job faster

What does your mates dad do for a living.

Remember also that if things go wrong will you be able to get him to recrify it, would be be insured, could he damage other things, could be flood your house.

To be honest, when its a big job like this you really would be better going with the professionals who have the insurance for such things in place.

Peace of mind is priceless mate.............

Does your mates dad have any sort of insurance. If he is doing this sort of thing for a living then he should have if he is self employed.
