Car Accident - 50/50 Split Liability Settlement

Hi all,
I was in a car accident some time back where a young driver t-boned my car after failing to follow the direction of a load of road signs (they had to turn left, they didn't).
I honestly don't think there was anything I could have done to avoid the accident and was in no way my fault.
Their representatives have said they don't think it's totally their fault and so have offered a 50/50 split liability settlement.
I was just wondering if any MSE'rs had been in a similiar situation and had any advice of where I should go from here? Am I entitled to ask exactly why they don't think it's the third party's fault?
I don't want to just bend over and take it!
Thanks in advance for your time and help.

Hi
Although they have offered a 50/50 liability split you don't have to accept it. ultimately it will be your insurance comany that will decide whether to accept but if you tell your insurance company that your 100% certain that it wasn't your fault (and the accident circumstances support that) then there will ultimately be a libaility dispute to resolve.
I would say it depends how much you want to dispute it - are you willing for it to drag on for many months or do you just want to get rid of it?0 -
i had a similar incident where some so'n'so hit my rear end.
100% his fault.
lo and behold he found a witness, which happened to be someone he knew.
my insurers wouldn't pursue it on my behalf and its going to be settled on a 50/50 basis at the request of the other insurers,
its still going on after 2 and half years, my insurers didn't give a toss about trying to establish the facts.
be prepared to accept their decision ,
it still makes my blood boil to think of that bent smarmy !!!! in his flash beemer getting away with it but there's absolutely nothing i can do about it!0
