Cost of tokens
Options
Hi this is my first post.
I moved in my new flat about a month ago and the property has a "Series 800 Card Operated Prepayment Meter" for my electric.
The website that sell's the meters recommends that the Landlord/agent should sell the tokens for £2.00 each,You get 20kw per token. The estate agent sell's them for £3.50. I found out from the nice lady upstairs that the estate agent is notorious for overcharging and cutting corners and I cannot approach the landlord because he is even worse. Is the price they are selling them at fair or are they not allowed to make this kind of profit.
I don't know where to stand on this. The last time I had to buy cards off a landlord he robbed my blind:mad:. Now, same as back then, I cannot up and leave to another property and I don't like the idea of being swindled.

I assume this is a privately-owned (ie: not owned by a utility company) prepayment meter?0

LLs can not make a profit from reselling gas or elec. By law you are entitled to know/see proof of how much they are paying. £3.50 / 20 equals 17.5p per kwh. As a comparsion with BG on a ppm you pay 22.5p for 1st 670kwh in a quarter and then 9.59p over that.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Its for the first 180 kwh with the Electricity and 670 kwh for gas on the tier 1 pricing structure.
The electricity used to be 125 kwh but they increased it with the last price increase to take in the 7% increase. His Heart Proved He Was A RedSuarez, SuarezWe Bought The Lad From AmsterdamWe Know He's Not a Chelsea Fan.Fernando Torres = El Judas0 -
Interesting, I'd like to also add that when I moved in the property changed estate agents. (very complicated to go into) the original EA's charged £3.00 per token but the new EA informed us that the cost was £3.50. This was before they took on the property or had any information on it. in fact I was here three week's before they had even seen the property.
I was thinking of going to the other tenants and asking them for the amount they spend on tokens and come up with an standard price per month and getting the billing information from the estate agent. the other tenants have already expressed there anger at the change in price.0
