Abbey, hands down, as they update instantly and the fast payment thing.

Abbey don't exist any more so I presume you mean santander?

    In which case

    :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Sorry, santander are the most appalling shower of proverbial ever to scathe and scar the face of British banking.

Everything about them is dire and should be avoided at all costs. Please for the love of god don't consider them! Just Google "Santander Complaints".

    End of

It's unstable, it doesn't work properly, it randomly decides to send things BACS when there's no reason for them not to go FP, it doesn't show transfers to other accounts when you request them, upto 24 hours later instead, [edit] it has a piddly 300/day FP limit compared to most other banks 10K limit...

I could go on. Sorry if you weren't being sarcastic. You actually like banking with Santander?

  • You might want to check what the faster payments limits are prior to opening a new account, here is the link

    http://www.ukpayments.org.uk/faster_payments_service/value_limits/
  • The only thing I thing Santander have right is their security implementation of a One Time Passcode texted to your mobile instead of using a card reader.

but I'm afraid thats it - and some people don't even like that.

FWIW I have used Smile for a number of years now with no problems. FP and transfers show immediately.

I like Natwest's (same as RBS I believe), and I have used Lloyds TSB, Halifax (old and new), Satandire, and in the more distant past, Barclays.
Debt free and staying that way!
