Second Hand iPhone Insurance??

Evening everyone.

I have recently bought a 2nd hand iPhone, and I am looking to get it insured.
It is JUST over a year old, so the Applecare is a no go, and my home insurers (AIG) have said they can't insure as I don't have a purchase invoice for it...!

Can anyone advise please?

Thanks in advance

If you bought it on ebay then you should have proof of purchase through the ebay system that you own it
  • Yes, I do have the receipt that came with the phone, but I have been told this is not sufficient, as it would have to be a receipt from a shop, not just 'someone'. AIG are refusing to add it to my policy on this basis :-(

I would not accept that BS. Make a formal complaint and / or change your insurer.

Be careful, some phone insurance policies have very retrictive clauses in the smallprint. My wife tried to claim when she lost hers. Claim was rejected on the basis that she had not taken adequate care of it:(

    Thank's for all the replies!
How would I go about making a complaint?

I had read somewhere else, that if I print all the details off of ebay, and take photographs and record the serial etc, then that should be ok, but the insurers still say no...! :-(
  • You can get third party iphone insurance from specialist insurers and brokers. Try some of these listed here...

I went with Insurance2Go who I know offer iphone insurance cos I remember seeing it when I bought my policy. Haven't made a claim though so can't vouch for that.

home insurance best way to go. to complain - just call them and say "i want to make a complaint". Simple. Take down names spoken to and the time/date of the call.

They should cover it - keep a digital and printed copy of the receipt, paypal transaction and ebay listing plus photos of the phone with serial number. Instruction manuals and boxes also help here.
