Am a little confused by this. Has there ALWAYS been doubt about paternity or is this something that has occured recently (ie. the phone call she made?). I am somewhat perturbed, personally, that a man has been paying for a child for 16 years (and some) but hasn't had a relationship with him either through choice or through circumstances (no judgement intended, I know these things are often way more complex than they seem).

Regardless, if you are going to contest paternity through the CSA you need to do that BEFORE you do anything else, I think, or they will assume paternity and you'll be on an upwards struggle to get a test through them. (I can't remember the user name but I'm pretty sure there was a lady on here who's partner was in a similar situation and the CSA were demanding thousands? anyone remember the name or can pull up the threat? It was very complex and over my head!) I should think you might also struggle to get one through the courts if you've paid for 16 years without question.

I only mention it as my ex husband contested paternity of our third child with the CSA, didn't fill in the paperwork so they assumed paternity and then a few weeks later he tried to get a test through the courts which was refused (there's a lot more to that as well, but that's the long and short of it!).
