Can you switch IVA practitioners?
Options
Hi folks, can any one tel me if its possible to switch IVA practitioners?
I have an IVA set up with a company which have been excellent in the past but the past few months I feel they had let me down badly.
My partner lost her job at the start of the month and they were good in letting me have a payment break.
However recently my partner has moved out due to personal circumstances. We are still a couple but she has moved out do that her parents can keep a watchful eye and emotional support. She is unable to contribute due to being on long term unpaid sick.
When I contacted my practitioner they were VERY unhelpful and said I still had to make the normal payment even though the monthly income had dropped significantly.
I contacted a government based no fee company (am not sure if can name names on this site) but they said that they were unable to provide any advice due to my prior arrangement.
Is it possible to switch to a different IVA provider as me as the single person?
I am looking for a flat mate and also working with my partner on her return.I am also looking for a second job but have had no luck so far.
I am at my wits end so ANY advice helpfull.
Thanks

Hi -- sorry to hear of the situation you find yourself in. I am afraid that it is very difficult ( nigh on impossible) to change IP's during the course of an IVA -- generally this will only happen if the IP goes bust, or dies, or you can prove malpractice, and will need court intervention.
Under the terms of most modern IVA's the IP has the ability to only reduce repayments by up to 15% without having to go back to the creditors for them to agree ( or more likely disagree) to any changes.0
