Cats Protection Free neutering/spaying

I found an article in my local paper where the cats protection league will be giving out vouchers for free spaying/neutering of cats at 3 supermarkets, 10am for next three Saturdays.

I had previously called the local branch to be told I would get a voucher but half to £25.

If I'm right they usually give it away free around this time of year (cats get out more as the weather improves) and had one of my cats done then.

I thought this might be helpful for anyone who needs a cat neutered or spayed and on low income. I would suggest getting in touch with your local Cats protection league and watch your local papers for the advertising.

Mine is in Eastbourne and just checked their website and it says they are running this campaign through March with dates.
Might be worth checking the site as you might find a local promotion close to you...

Hope this helps someone.

If anyone can find any more info I'd love to hear it!
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

I had both my cats spayed for free thanks to the Cats Protection vouchers :)

Both times I saw an ad in the classifieds in the local paper, so always worth keeping your eye on that...

  • You can contact your local branch at any time for vouchers and depending on your circumstances you will get a contribution voucher or a free one. It's not a one off thing, these campaigns are just to raise awareness as we head into kitten season (which never really stops anymore).

If you have trouble with your local branch then contact head office who will be happy to help.

It is essential to have your cat spayed or neutered, not only to prevent litters of kittens which will only add to the overwhelming over population of cats in the UK but also the huge health benefits associated with what is now a pretty simple procedure for most cats.

Just a word of warning here - I took on a stray Tom and applied to The Cats Protection League for free neutering, I was given a local vets number where arrangements had been made for me to take my cat for the operation.
Being a student with little financial resources on booking him in I asked about any further charges etc. The response was not good - I came away from the whole experience feeling that the Cat Protection League was in partnership with 'recommended' vets who catch you out on hidden 'check ups' etc to cover the costs/discount.
You know what they say - 'no such thing as a free lunch' - worse still my little Tom is still not neutered due to this irritating & unexpected deception?

I sorry you had a bad experience with Cats Protection Bewary. I also took on a stray tom and CP paid for the procedure, no questions asked. There were no additional check ups required so no additional costs.

I'm based in South Wales and at least around here CP try and catch ferral cats, have them spayed or neutered then re-release them in their home territory so they're happy to cover the cost as in the long run it reduces the amount of cats that appear at their doorstep.

I do get the feeling that CP have 'preferred' vets that they have reduced rates with. I've actually stayed with the vet practice that the CP use - they've always been good to the cats so I don't have an issue with it.
