2001 Peugeot 206 Air Con has quit

Can someone advise me how much this will cost to fix? The fan that powers the air con has stopped. When I'm on the motor way, I can still feel the air flowing through the vents, but the fan is dead. I don't think it's a fuse because for a week or so before it fully stopped it worked intermittently.

To confirm, do you mean the heater blower fan that you can control the speed of from the dash, usually 3 or 4 speeds, or is just with the air-con on?

If it is the heater blower, or the heater motor resistor, then there'll probably be some on ebay or check your local car distmantlers as a new part will be reasonably expensive. Sorry but not too sure of labour time to fit this as on some cars it's buried behind the dash so could be 2-3 hours labour but on my Fiat it takes about 30 mins as its under the glovebox.

Presuming you're not mechanically minded, a garage won't charge you much to diagnose & confirm the problem initially.

Sorry I've no exact figures, but as a guess, presuming its the fault above, then work on £100-£150?

Have seen heater motors on ebay for £30-£40 - if it's the switch on the centre console, about half that. A new dealer part will be nearer £100.

Thanks, it's the blower fan (I think, I can still turn the back window de-mister on via the console?), but how much should I be looking at for a diagnosis?

Unfortunately everything will be guesswork until you have the system properly checked. Don't change anything until you've had the system professionally looked at as you may end up, expensively, chasing symptoms. For example, some systems don't engage (power up) if there isn't enough refrigerant left in it. That might cause you to change a fan motor, which still wouldn't work, until the fluid leak is found and resolved.

Even a simple pipe on the aircon plumbing can cost silly money. My old car had a cracked pipe, I did
enquire £147+vat. I opened the windows instead, Much cheaper and used less fuel.

You dont seem sure if its the aircon or the heater blower motor though, They have nothing to do with the
heated rear window.

The heater blower should still work even if the aircon does not, It just wont blow out cold air. Either warm air or
air that is the same temp as outside the car. Most aircon systems do not work below 4 or 5 degrees.

D'oh, just checked and it doesn't actually have air con. Just bog standard blower.
