Double Glazing, to replace or not to replace that is the question!

Hi,
My windows have in a technical term "blown" you can't see out of patches of them now, I'm led to believe this is because water is getting inside the 2 glass panels.
I really don't have the money to pay for new windows, but will consider re-mortgageing next year adding more money on if I need to.
But that is the question, apart from losing the view, what is the effect this is having? Am I losing energy efficiency?
I have to say that I haven't noticed any drafts coming in, but not sure that means all that much.
Anyway advice appreciated.
Sara

we have the same problem "blown" i think means there is no air gap in the window so it will be losing a lot more heat than it should.
do you like DIY or know some one who could put windows in that you could pay less if so look at the price of windows here http://www.u-fit.co.uk/ and see how much they rip you off for fitting.:cool:0 -
Am pretty good at DIY, but decided I was petrified of dropping windows and also just don't think I have the height (5ft) or strength to do it.
Lucky enough to know the double glazing guy pretty well, he did another house for me before I put it on the market and has said if I'll have a sign outside, he'll do it all for base cost + throw in a nice coloured front door.
Its just "another" thing to do to this damm house, bought it for £12,000 less than asking price, but need to spend that on it now anyway. Sigh!
Have to say only one window was affected when I bought and it was only slightly, now in less than 2yrs the lot have gone and the front door keeps jamming, so I can't get out!!! Back patio door was broken at the time, so couldn't open that either.
Hows about that for an excuse, I can't come to work, my front door is jammed and my back door is broken too. ;o)
Just an actual thought, but I read an article once, that said that the cost of Double Glazing is alot higher than what you save on your energy bills!!! I think some heavy curtains and possibly a blind are my current solution, who wants to see the whole outside anyway. ;o)0 -
If your frames are sound you may be able to get away with replacement sealed units and save a small fortune in the process.0
