Can i get a reduction in counciltax?

Should think with the way council tax works, there's more risk of the council deciding that your improvements have increased the value of the house, so they're moving you into a higher tax bracket!
Makes no difference whatsoever. Your council tax band is based on the property value at 1/4/91. It will stay that way until the next reval, which is not going to be any time soon.
If you make major changes (e.g. add a loft conversion or a extension), then no reval is done until the property is sold-so it will not affect you in the least. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Why do people waste time talking to uninvited sales spiel at their door?
I just open the door, say politely, no thank you, if they don't sling their hook immediately then I use different language.
I read this wrong first time - assumed you meant you would try French or German or Swahili or something and how would this work? On second read I think you meant you use more 'persuasive and direct, of the 4 letter variety' language.... :rotfl:0
