Help with dust and TV!

I'm not sure if this is better here or 'In your home', but I'll give it a go. I have a 32 inch LCD TV, in an old house that gets very dusty. The TV is a magnet for dust and both the screen, and the shiny black surround, seem constantly layered. As soon as I wipe it with a duster, it immediately flies straight back on it again. I haven't tried with a damp cloth on the screen as I'm worried it might damage it. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Microfibre cloth barely damp with plain water does the trick and is probably the safest thing to use on the screen anyway.0

Get a hoover with a hepa filter and start your spring cleaning early...I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
But, if the white runs out, I'll drink the red.0 -
It is static that is attracting the dust, when you wipe it with that lovely dry duster you are increasing the static charge which immediately attracts the dust particles, the damp cloth will stop the charge increasing and should also decrease the charge their already.
There are anti static screen cleaning solutions around.0 -
I picked up a tv cleaning kit from tesco for £3 when they were changing over the brand/packaging
problem is the normal prices are much more
something like this one.
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9289334.htm
or
http://www.maplin.co.uk/lcd-tv-screen-cleaner-99172
the brush is great as removing dust and the pad/cleaner if you get stuborn marks
Also have a copy of this set also was £3 at tesco

Thanks!! I'll try the M&S one as I have a voucher from them. I'll test it on the laptop screen first, which is pretty mucky.0 -
I got a kit from betterware to clean the dust, which provided liquid too.
i will get the name and post it later.0 -

Agree with Moonrakerz, I have used a Microfibre damp cloth since they came out and never had any problems.I'm not sure if this is better here or 'In your home', but I'll give it a go. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Novus-1-Plastic-Polish-8-Fl-oz-Amusements-Pinball-/370482415535?pt=UK_Video_Games_Coin_Operated_MJ&hash=item56427907af
Novus 1.
Novus 1 plastic polish 8 fl.oz clean and shine gently cleans all plastics without scratching and leaves a lustrous shine that restricts fogging repels dust, and eliminates static.
- Resists finger marking
- Contains no abrasives or harsh chemicals
- Leaves a smooth, clean, greaseless shine
I (stupidly) scratched the black gloss surround on my tv the first day I got it, trying to clean off some packaging glue. I tried quite a few things to try and fix it.
The best I found was the Novus range of plastic polishes. They have 1 Clean & Shine, 2 Fine Scratch Remover, 3 Heavy Scratch Remover.
As I bought a kit with all 3 in, I can recommend Novus 1 for cleaning the tv on a regular basis.
The others are also handy to have for scratched dvds, cds etc.0
