vacuum carpet cleaner

Hi all,
Can anyone recommend a good carpet cleaner. I had one about 2 years ago but was thinking of getting another now that spring is on the way and we start the spring cleaning. The carpets are decent but would like to freshen them up or is it just as good to get on your hands and knees with a bowl and some star drops.
It's okay going on individual makers web sites but they all claim to have the best machines

  • Hi Optimus primera.
I use to clean the carpets up until two years ago in Spring say April time and then around October so that would mean hiring one twice yearly. I don't know how much that would cost yearly but i reckon it would outstrip the outlay of one if you bought one yourself.
  • Rugdoctors are very good for carpet cleaning although i only ever hire one as there expensive to buy.Bisell and Vax also make good carpet cleaners.

Bissell was the last one i had. I could never tell the difference when i cleaned them but you should have seen the colour of the water when i poured it out. It made me feel ashamed
  • I have a bissel which is great and does not wet the carpets too much so dries quicker. Got it from QVC. Best thing I have ever brought.

Also ashamed at what comes off the carpets and I do them twice a year.
